Portrait of A Lady- Oakland Portrait Photographer

Friday, January 27th, 2012

Maja is an award-winning designer (see Studiombd.com) and founder of both Tikoli kitchenware and online hardware store (for urban doers– you’ll have to see the website to know what I’m referring to) www.machensupply.com.  Maja wasn’t a huge fan of having her photo taken but we had quite a bit of fun.  I’ve worked with many talented designers and art directors.  It was a bit of a twist to have an art director in front of my camera rather than peering over my shoulder and directing the shoot.  There was a mutual trust on both of our parts and I think that the end product was pretty powerful.  I’m not sure which image Maja will choose but here are a few outtakes that I liked from our shoot.  Enjoy this sneak peek!

From the Pews In The Back- Berkeley Head Shot Portrait Photographer

Monday, November 30th, 2009

I don’t generally advertise or post all of my services. Sessions that include boudoir and corporate or individual headshots are generally omitted. The first for obvious reasons, the latter, well, they’re pretty basic and to post them would be to reveal a contact sheet (for those who are old school photo peeps) of sorts. In any case, I was intrigued with this particular client’s book when she told me about it during last weekend’s session. It’s a compilation of essays from a number of women entitled From the Pews In The Back: Young Women and Catholicism. Now I’ve not read the book yet but the content is rich (especially for a Bay Area audience) so much so that I had to let my blog readers know about it. Here is a link and here are a couple of pulls from my digital “contact sheet”. Thanks Jen and I look forward to the good read!

Dumbo NYC- Bay Area Headshots Photographer

Monday, August 24th, 2009

If I could choose any section of NYC to live in, it would be the DUMBO region of Brooklyn. Every corner that you turn on is a beautiful backdrop just screaming my name. Years ago while assisting NYC photographer Denise Chastain, we photographed there (seeking the old warehouses and fire escapes). I can’t get over how much it has changed– I thank the artists who now live there! Here’s a sneak peek for this budding 13 year old model, Eduardo. He showed up with his guitar and skateboard and a very professional attitude. It was an honor to take your portfolio and headshots! Remember us people on the pavement when you’re a regular superstar!
